Leyu provides waterproof switching power supplies designed for outdoor, humid, dusty and other environments where a standard open or ventilated power supply may not provide sufficient protection.
Our current waterproof range includes compact low-power models as well as higher-power IP67 power supplies, with output options such as 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V DC depending on the model.
Fully enclosed and encapsulated designs help protect internal electronic components from dust and temporary water exposure, making these power supplies suitable for applications such as outdoor LED lighting, advertising signs, landscape lighting, security equipment and selected industrial installations.
Choose the right waterproof power supply based on the required DC voltage, wattage, IP rating, installation environment, enclosure type and operating temperature.
Use the following guide as a starting point when selecting a waterproof power supply.
Power Range | Recommended Direction | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|
20W–35W | Compact waterproof power supply | Small LED loads and compact outdoor equipment |
60W | LPV-60 direction | LED lighting and signage |
100W | LPV-100 direction | Medium outdoor lighting systems |
150W | LPV-150 direction | Higher-load LED and outdoor equipment |
Up to 250W | LDV-250 direction | Higher-power outdoor and industrial applications |
Actual voltage, current, dimensions and environmental ratings vary by model. Always confirm the individual product specifications before final selection.

The LDV Series is designed for applications requiring higher output power together with environmental protection.
Selected LDV models use an aluminum enclosure and fully potted construction, helping improve protection and thermal management in suitable outdoor installations.
The series can be considered for higher-load LED, signage and industrial applications where a compact low-power solution is not sufficient.
Typical applications include:
High-power LED lighting
Outdoor signage
Architectural lighting
Commercial lighting systems
Industrial outdoor equipment
An IP67 power supply is designed with an enclosure that provides a defined level of protection against solid particles and water ingress.
The first digit, 6, indicates a high level of protection against dust ingress.
The second digit, 7, indicates protection against temporary immersion in water under defined test conditions.
For outdoor electrical systems, an IP67 enclosure can provide additional protection against:
Rain
Dust
Moisture
Temporary water exposure
Outdoor environmental conditions
However, IP67 does not automatically mean that the power supply is suitable for permanent underwater operation.
If your application involves continuous submersion, high-pressure water cleaning, marine conditions or chemical exposure, confirm the environmental requirements before selecting a model.
The correct DC output voltage must match the equipment being powered.
A 12V waterproof power supply is commonly used with low-voltage equipment such as:
LED strips
Signage
Security devices
Monitoring equipment
Low-voltage outdoor electronics
Before selecting a model, confirm the required output current and total load wattage.
A 24V waterproof power supply can support larger LED systems and other outdoor equipment designed around a 24V DC architecture.
24V systems are often considered when longer cable runs or higher-power low-voltage loads are involved, depending on the system design.
Typical applications include:
Outdoor LED lighting
Architectural lighting
Advertising signage
Industrial outdoor equipment
Control and monitoring systems
Selected higher-power systems may require a 48V waterproof power supply.
Always verify that the connected load is designed for 48V DC and confirm the required output current before selecting a model.
Selected Leyu waterproof power supply models are also available in other output voltages depending on the series.
Many products in this category are designed as constant voltage power supplies.
A constant voltage power supply maintains a specified DC output voltage for equipment designed to operate from a fixed voltage such as:
12V DC
24V DC
48V DC
This is particularly important when selecting power supplies for LED applications.
A constant voltage LED power supply is not the same as a constant current LED driver.
Before selecting a power supply, confirm whether the LED module or connected equipment requires:
Constant Voltage
or
Constant Current
Using the wrong power architecture can result in poor performance or equipment damage.
The enclosure design is one of the main differences between waterproof and conventional switching power supplies.
Potting or encapsulation helps isolate internal components from:
Moisture
Dust
Condensation
Environmental contaminants
It can also improve mechanical stability in certain installations.
Selected compact waterproof models use enclosed plastic housings.
These designs can provide:
Electrical insulation
Compact size
Low weight
Environmental protection
Selected higher-power models may use aluminum housings.
An aluminum enclosure can support:
Mechanical protection
Heat dissipation
Higher-power designs
Outdoor equipment integration
Housing material varies by series and model, so always check the individual technical specification.
Before comparing wattage, determine where the power supply will be installed.
Consider whether the installation is:
Indoors with high humidity
Under an outdoor shelter
Exposed to direct rain
In a dusty environment
Subject to condensation
Exposed to temporary water contact
The environmental conditions determine how important enclosure protection becomes.
Choose the enclosure protection according to the actual installation environment.
For applications requiring IP67 protection, confirm that the specific model, rather than only the product family, carries the required IP rating.
Check the operating voltage of the connected equipment.
Common options include:
12V
24V
36V
48V
The output voltage of the power supply must match the load requirements.
Determine the maximum load current and calculate the nominal output power.
Output Power (W) = Output Voltage (V) × Load Current (A)
For example:
24V × 4A = 96W
The final selection should also consider startup demand, operating conditions and an appropriate engineering margin.
For LED applications, determine whether the connected LED module requires constant voltage or constant current power.
Select a waterproof constant voltage power supply only when it matches the electrical requirements of the load.
Consider whether your application is better suited to:
Compact plastic enclosed construction
Aluminum enclosed construction
Fully potted design
The correct choice depends on power level, installation space and environmental conditions.
Waterproof power supplies are often sealed or fully encapsulated, which makes thermal management especially important.
Check:
Ambient temperature
Installation orientation
Available airflow
Distance from heat sources
Required derating
Surface temperature
Do not install the power supply in a tightly enclosed space without considering heat dissipation.
An IP67 power supply does not automatically make the entire electrical installation IP67.
Cable joints, terminals, connectors and wiring interfaces must also be properly protected.
For outdoor installations, consider using appropriate:
Waterproof connectors
Junction boxes
Cable glands
Sealed terminals
Poorly protected cable connections can allow moisture into the system even when the power supply enclosure itself is waterproof.
Feature | Waterproof Power Supply | Standard Enclosed Power Supply |
|---|---|---|
Enclosure | Sealed or encapsulated | Usually ventilated or semi-enclosed |
Water Protection | Designed for specified IP protection | Generally intended for dry environments |
Dust Protection | Higher depending on IP rating | Depends on enclosure |
Cooling | Sealed thermal design / natural convection | Natural convection or fan cooling |
Typical Installation | Outdoor, humid or dusty areas | Indoor machinery and equipment |
Cable Protection | Requires outdoor-compatible connection design | Usually installed inside protected equipment |
Choose a waterproof model when environmental exposure is an important part of the application.
If the power supply will be installed inside protected equipment in a dry environment, a standard Single Output Power Supply may be more appropriate.
Correct installation is essential for long-term outdoor operation.
Even when the power supply has an IP-rated enclosure, avoid installing it where water can continuously collect around the product.
Use suitable waterproof cable connections and avoid leaving exposed wire joints.
Do not completely cover the power supply with insulation or install it directly beside another strong heat source.
Outdoor enclosures exposed to direct sunlight can become significantly hotter than the surrounding air.
If possible, install the power supply in a shaded or ventilated position.
Follow the recommended installation orientation and clearance specified for the selected model.
The final outdoor system is only as protected as its weakest connection.
The power supply, connectors, junction boxes, cables and equipment enclosure should all be evaluated together.
Waterproof constant voltage power supplies can provide DC power for suitable LED strips, modules and outdoor lighting systems.
Outdoor advertising signs often require enclosed low-voltage power supplies capable of operating in humid or rain-exposed environments.
Waterproof power supplies can support decorative lighting, building outlines and landscape lighting installations where environmental protection is required.
Suitable DC power supplies can support outdoor cameras, monitoring equipment and other security devices.
Selected industrial equipment installed outside protected indoor environments may require an IP-rated AC-DC power supply.
The exact product should always be selected according to voltage, current, temperature and environmental exposure.
IP67 provides useful environmental protection, but some applications require additional evaluation.

IP67 indicates a defined level of protection against dust and temporary water immersion under specified test conditions. It does not automatically mean that the product is designed for permanent underwater use.
Normally, IP67 should not be interpreted as approval for permanent underwater installation. Applications involving continuous submersion should be evaluated separately and may require a higher level of environmental protection.
A waterproof power supply uses a sealed or encapsulated enclosure designed to provide a specified level of protection against moisture and dust. Standard enclosed power supplies are generally intended for protected indoor environments and may use ventilation openings for cooling.
Choose the output voltage required by the connected equipment. If the LED module or device is rated for 12V DC, use a compatible 12V power supply. If it requires 24V DC, select a 24V model. Voltage must match the load specification.
Check the required IP rating, output voltage, load wattage, ambient temperature, mounting location, heat dissipation and protection of cable joints and connectors. The entire electrical installation should be protected, not only the power supply enclosure.
